The Five Whys as taught to me by Red Hawk

The five “whys” can be used whenever you are trying to make a decision on something as big in your life as choosing your life’s mate or as small as if you are going to stop to get gas for your vehicle. You can take the five to seven if necessary, but, normally, by the time you are to number three, you will have your answer. It’s a very simple process and very easily incorporated into your everyday life after you have concentrated and focused on it for just a few days. I have found that I am making better decisions and choices since I incorporated this practice into my everyday life.

Example: You are thinking you might want to marry someone.

1. Question: Why do you want to marry them?
Answer: Well, I want to marry them because I am in love with them.

2. Question: Why are you in love with them?
Answer: Because I feel happy when I am with them.

3. Question: Why do you feel happy when you are with them?
Answer: They are everything I’ve ever wanted in a mate in every way and I feel it will last forever.

4. Question: Why do you feel it will last forever?
Answer: We have been together for a reasonable amount of time and have learned to work through any problems without anger and fighting. We have many things in common and have learned to give each other time and space when it is needed. We have the same outlooks and goals in life. We trust each other and have learned compromise. We have wonderful times together. We have many of the same interests in life. Spiritually we are united. We both know our paths in the Red Road of life’s journey.

THERE’S YOUR ANSWER BY THE TIME YOU HAVE GOTTEN TO NUMBER FOUR ON SOMETHING AS IMPORTANT AS MARRIAGE.

OTHER QUESTIONS YOU WILL SEE ONLY TAKE ONE OR TWO ANSWERS AND YOU HAVE IT.

Here is an example of the negative aspect: I like my job.

1. Why? - well, it's a great place to work
2. Why? - hmm, well, the hours are kind of long and I really don't get paid for what I do.
3. Why don't you get paid for what you do? - Because they don't value my work
4. Why - because they really don't care about the people who work there.
5. Why do you work there? - hmm, you know, I really don't like my job. Perhaps I need to start looking for another place that values me and my work.

Thanks to REDHAWK www.RedHawkSpeaks.com for this lesson. I am grateful for the teaching.
